Women in the nineteenth century were focused on earning the equal rights of a man and to be treated and respected as one man should. The WKKK was able to give white protestant women the ability to have some kind of hierarchy over black, Jewish, Catholic, and native men and women which made them feel powerful and in control.
Ku Klux Klan members wife's would often join due to the fact they felt it was their duty.
